Lab Grown Old Cut Diamonds

We all know that buying vintage and repurposing jewellery that we already have is the most sustainable choice we can make, however the second best option is a lab grown diamond as opposed to newly mined.

Our exclusive collection of By Holts rings are now available with lab diamonds!

In keeping with our commitment to sustainability and truly unique pieces with history, we have spent the last 12 months sourcing the perfect lab diamonds that are both eco-friendly and vintage style Old Cuts; our Celeste Diamonds®!

why choose a lab grown diamond?

sustainable

Mining natural diamonds has a huge environmental impact due to the energy used and earth excavated. Our lab diamonds are sustainably made using renewable solar energy as opposed to fossil fuel energy, making them unique and reducing the carbon footprint of their production even further.

economical

Lab grown diamonds are also much more economical, they cost significantly less than natural diamonds allowing for a much bigger carat weight for your budget.

high quality

As lab diamonds are created in a controlled environment, external minerals which might be absorbed whilst a natural diamond is forming are taken out of the equation, resulting in super high quality diamonds. All of our Celeste Diamonds® are at least G Colour and VS Clarity, often being higher than this.

What makes your Lab Grown Diamonds Different?

Our lab diamonds are Old Cuts! With higher crowns, wider facets and a more plump look, our Celeste Diamonds® are cut in the antique style, giving them so much more uniqueness and vintage appeal than a modern Brilliant Cut lab diamond. Plus, our Celeste Diamonds are made using solar energy.

is a lab grown diamond a real diamond?

Yes! Natural and lab grown diamonds have exactly the same properties including chemical composition, crystalline structure, hardness, density and refractive index. The lab grown production process mimics the conditions under which diamonds are formed, using the exact same element - pure carbon, so you get a diamond just as real, with far less impact on the planet. Lab diamonds can also have inclusions and are still colour and clarity graded in the same way as natural diamonds. Each Celeste Diamond comes with an I.G.I Certificate and is laser inscribed with its unique report number to the girdle.

Can you tell the difference between natural and lab diamonds?

As natural and lab diamonds have exactly the same optical and chemical properties, it's not possible to tell them apart with the human eye alone! The only way to differentiate is through florescent X-ray which shows the diamonds growth pattern, distinguishing if the stone grew over millions of years (natural) or was grown over a few days or weeks (lab).
